If you were following the pop-able food debate that went wild on this site over the past 24 hours, you have heard the rumors of a pop-able black bean.
It does indeed exist. It is a subspecies of the common bean called the nuña. It pops and tastes like Peanuts- it was domesticated in the Andes a couple thousand years ago.
Interestingly, it has been "patented" by a large corporation. Natives are upset about this. We all should be. Patenting an organism. I bet Marguerrite is all for that..
Anyways, I most likely will never be able to try nuña.
This weekend I am going to try Amaranth though.
End. live. Blog.
