Kentucky is cold

my thoughts are with you, jesslyn. the purple house is big. cold. the todrins could be lurking.

I visited the old kentucky capitol with tara. it was awesome. the woman started talking about "free colored" who did the plaster molding. but she continued to refer to the freed slaves as "colored". it was quaint.

boiled custard makes me happy, though it doesn't exist in the north. imagine eggnog, but thicker, richer, sweeter, and better. kentucky in the holidays. and it snowed!

tara is drinking tea. n*sync christmas album playing. good cheer all around.

The old Kentucky capitol has a neat staircase which is made entirely of stone and supports itself, but that staircase is not as neat as the Miracle Staircase in the Loretto Chapel in Santa Fe, which is made entirely of wood and is helix-shaped and has no nails or center support.

The nuns thought it was a miracle, but they also thought it was very scary because it didn't have a railing for many years after it was built, and a lot of the nuns climbed down it on their hands and knees because it was so frightening. I think they should have just built a slide or a fireman pole for the poor scared nuns.
